This Oaxacan Alebrije is hand painted on wood carving of the copal tree, which grows around the community of San Martín Tilcajete, a town in the Zapotec region of the State of Oaxaca, in South Mexico.
These one of a kind pieces have been made for generations, using simple tools such as machetes, gouges and knives.
